The platform has a built-in feature allowing platform admins and users with admin rights to create and post News Feeds directly in the platform to be shown in the News Feed widget or sent via email to one or more users. If you have the SMS integration you are also able to send News Feed updates via SMS.

How to create a News Feed 

To create and manage News Feeds, navigate to the News Feed sub-menu by clicking on your user profile in the top right corner of the platform.

Click Create new and specify whether the news should be posted either as Platform news through the News Feed widget or if a News Feed update should be generated and sent via email. If the SMS integration is added to your platform you will see a third option on the right for SMS.

Platform news 

To create platform news, add Basic details such as a Title and Message text and choose a Cover picture which will then be displayed in the News Feed. You can Upload images from your local drive or select a relevant image from the pixabay External Gallery

In Advanced settings you can set the Start Date and End Date for the News Feed to be displayed to users in the platform. 

Click Save & go to overview in the top-left side of the platform to save the changes.

Email News 

To create a News Feed as an email, simply navigate to News Feed, click Create new, and select the Mail option.

Add an email Subject, Message Text and set a Cover picture. You can Upload images from your local drive or select a relevant image from the pixabay External Gallery

You can use Merge Tags in the Message Text to personalise the message. 

Note: Do not change the text in between hashtags. This text will be replaced with the relevant user or platform information. 

When your email text is ready, click Save & go to overview in the top-left side of the platform to save the changes.

News Feeds overview 

When you navigate to the News Feed section you will find the overview of existing News Feeds that you have created thus far. You will be met with icons for Type, Start and End date for when the News Feed is displayed, and Users read to show read statistics.

You can only see News Feeds created by yourself. To find News Feeds created by other admins, you have to use a proxy login option to log in as them. 

Under Actions you can either edit or assign the News Feed.

How to assign a News Feed

To assign a News Feed, navigate to the News Feed overview and select the News Feed that you would like to assign.

You can assign News Feeds either to individual employees, departments or to entire teams in the same way that you would assign a learning module or program. 

To assign individual employees, click Assign by the News Feed and click Assign users. A new Assign Users window will open with the user list. Select the users that you wish to assign the News Feed to and then confirm by clicking the green Assign Users button at the bottom-right of the window.

If you wish to assign the News Feed to specific departments or teams, follow the same steps and use the Departments and Teams tab in the News Feed Assignments  

Where users can find the News Feed 

If it's Platform news, the news will be visible to the assigned users in the News Feed widget on the main dashboard.

If it is the Mail type News Feed it will be sent via mail to the assigned users. You will be able to find sent emails in the Mail History tab under Admin > Settings > Mail Templates & History.
