At eloomi we fully acknowledge and see the value of making sure that your end-users get well introduced to and trained in the use of your own eloomi platform. In this article we're aiming at giving you some context as to why we do not have readily available training materials for you to distribute, what good approaches to such training could include and topics that we suggest you touch upon when educating your end-users in your new LMS.

Why do we not offer end-user training materials?

At eloomi we do not offer end-user support or provide guides and articles aimed at the end-user. The reason for this is mainly twofold:

  • On the one hand, we believe the system is very user-friendly, so much so that a large part of the users do not need any documentation and/or training in order to get started. They will be able to understand the system and its functionalities within a short amount of time.

  • On the other hand, we believe providing standardized training with the eloomi branding, menus and extra functionalities/solution add-ons might confuse the user more because it has different colors, images, wording, content, functionalities, etc.

Approaches to end-user training.

Over the years we have seen many approaches to our customers' end-user training and it doesn't necessarily have to be an extensive or complex task. However, we always suggest using tools like online modules and News Feed to get the information and training out there.
Some general approaches that can be used (and how to add them in eloomi):

  • Introduction videos (we recommend using your marketing department or an external provider to create a professional looking video) - Video step

  • Powerpoint presentations (it is recommended to export these to pdf for best formatting on the platform) - Slideshow step

  • Screen recordings with voiceover - Video step

  • Mix text, images and videos within one overview for a full learning experience - Article step

  • A general user manual in PDF for the user to download to a local drive - Downloadable files step

Suggested areas that can be covered in end-user training.

When creating your end-user training there is often no need to cover all areas of the platform. What is important is that you use your knowledge of the organization and your employees in order to create an understanding of what could be needed and how much you need to deep-dive into functionalities or whether a more high-level (general) introduction is sufficient.

We have compiled a list of possible topics and areas you can cover when choosing and creating your end-user training:

  • How to get started with the platform (activating your account and first meeting with the platform).

  • Dashboard (explain which widgets are enabled, what they can access and how to best organize their widget overview).

  • How to navigate (which menu tabs are the most important for them).

  • How to open a module/program (and how to sign up for webinars/onsite if applicable).

  • How to change their password, edit personal details and request a new password if forgotten.

  • Who they need to reach out to internally for support.

We hope that this has provided some inspiration and gives you a clearer idea on what approach to choose for your end-user training.
