How it works

1. Add business titles

To get started with Skills, add business titles to your organization.

If your company has its own unique titles, simply choose the most closely related business title. Our skills providers, Lightcast, are constantly evolving their comprehensive database and new titles can be suggested for review on an ongoing basis.

Add your business titles in Admin > Skills > Business titles

2. Assign skills to business titles

For each business title, add associated skills from the Lightcast library. For example, a Copywriter may be assigned skills such as Marketing, Communications, and Detail Oriented.

3. Assign business titles to user

Once you have business titles set up, assign them to users. This connects employees to the active skills database to provide an organizational overview and enable personal skills development.

Assign business titles to your employees via Admin > Organization > Users

4. Assign skills to content

To connect with relevant courses, browse the courses available on your platform and add skills to them, allowing managers to direct learning and empowering users to plan their next steps in skills development.

Assign skills to content via Admin > Learning > Courses

5. Assign content to users

Remember, in order for a user to access courses, they must first be assigned to it. You can do this quickly using bulk assignments or by creating groups and assigning courses to groups.

Assign content via Admin > Learning > Courses

6. Prompt employees to define their skills

Upon logging in, users will be prompted to define the skills they currently have as well as the skills they want to have in future. This can include job-specific skills, as well as aspirational goals and hidden talents for development.

This information will allow you to find out in which direction your users want to develop and whether you have content on the platform that will help them develop the indicated skills.

7. Get an overview of skills with reporting

Find out exactly which skills your employees want to develop most with Skills reporting. Get an instant overview of the skills within your organization, see real-time learning progress, and connect to content needed to bridge skill gaps.

See your overview via Reports > Skills

8. Check the skills development of individual employees

In addition to a comprehensive report on an organizational level, managers can check the progress of individual users and their skills development to track targets and provide personalized feedback.

Check individual progress via Reports > Users
